Two separate task forces of interested seniors, one in the Piedmont Avenue area and another at the St. John’s Episcopal Church in Montclair, began meeting in 2008 to discuss the concept of developing villages in their communities. These task forces merged, established a Board of Directors, and formed our organization, the North Oakland Village (NOV), on July 28, 2009. In April of 2010, NOV was officially awarded 501(c)3 status as a government-recognized non-profit.
Our village offers services in two ways: through volunteers and through referrals to pre-screened professionals who can work for, and are paid by, NOV members . This means members have qualified resources available at their fingertips. For a more detailed description of the services we offer, see the Services page.
